July 2008 - McMaster Recognizes
Unique Public Sector Training
Program from Nexient
Nexient’s Enterprise
Business Architecture Program first in industry
to be recognized by Canadian
university.
Toronto, ON - June 23,
2008 -
Nexient Learning Inc.
(NEX: NXN.H), Canada's
largest corporate skills development
company, today announced
that its Enterprise Business
Architecture (EBA) program
has been recognized by
one of Canada’s
leading postsecondary institutions
- McMaster University.
Developed in partnership
with Chartwell Inc., the
EBA program teaches public
sector personnel business
architecture methods that
enable them to plan an
efficient, outcomes-based
enterprise that meets the evolving needs of Canadians.
Business Architecture, including the use of public
sector reference models,
provides a structured framework for business transformation
and change. In the public sector, EBA methods support the creation
of a more efficient, more effective, citizen-centric enterprise.
Nexient’s EBA program takes
a disciplined approach
to the skills and knowledge necessary to align programs, services
and processes with strategic goals, as well as providing decision-makers
with the information they need to direct human, financial, and
technical resources more effectively.
“As governments design and measure the
impact of programs and services to citizens, there is a crucial
need for terminology and methods that will support collaboration
within and across jurisdictions," stated Scott Williams,
Chief Learning Officer at Nexient.
Roy Wiseman, the CIO of the Region of Peel and
a national champion of enterprise business architecture, said: “Governments
across Canada are working toward the adoption of standard reference
models and tools to define, plan and manage the business of
government. A training program like Nexient’s will help
governments apply and adopt the core reference models and best-practices
more consistently and successfully within their own jurisdiction,
while also providing a common framework for better collaboration
among all governments in Canada.”
“Nexient and Chartwell bring unique strengths
to this partnership and program,” said Jeff Smith, CEO
of Chartwell. “Nexient is a leading provider of learning
solutions in Canada, while Chartwell is a leader in enterprise
transformation consulting. Together, we have created a program
that is unique in Canada.”
The program being launched today is also recognized
by one of Canada’s leading universities. “McMaster
University has worked with Nexient for a number of years to
bring best practices in Project Management and Business Analysis
to Canadian learners. We're very pleased to be doing the same
in Enterprise Business Architecture," said Tracey Taylor-O'Reilly,
Director of the Centre for Continuing Education. "The creation
of the Nexient training program around this emerging discipline
will be good for learners, good for their employers, and good
for the profession.”
