Ian Gilmour – by Leslie Montgomery

From his career start as director of a village renewal project in India, to his current position as Chartwell’s partner and our Chief Methodologist, Ian’s career has been hallmarked by both learning and mentoring – something both clients and colleagues have greatly benefited from.

On the client side, over 300 business analysts, project managers, and business solutions staff have given stellar reviews after completing Ian’s Business Architecture curriculum. In addition to being an excellent teacher in a formal setting, Ian’s facilitative approach on business architecture assignments ensures that clients participate in, and thoroughly understand, the process – greatly enhancing their ability to translate business strategies into an aligned business design.

Ian is a great mentor, both to his clients and his colleagues. It is truly a privilege to work with someone who is extremely versed in his field, and who also takes pleasure from explaining and instructing. This, coupled with his unerring ability to provide advice in a manner appropriate to his audience, makes him a powerful instructor.

Ian has 25 years of experience in management consulting, including twelve years’ experience with using enterprise object-modeling and business architecture techniques. Prior to joining Chartwell, Ian was the Associate Director of the Convergent Engineering Institute (San Mateo, CA). The Institute was founded by Dr David Taylor, a leading authority on the use of business objects to specify business designs and to implement component-based IT solutions.

Ian loves sailing, canoeing, enjoys an eclectic range of music, and studies Vipassana (mindfulness) meditation techniques.
